About
In the early 1990's I needed to establish a web site for my voice-over business. I began to learn HTML and was one of the first voice talents to be submitted to the original Yahoo! directory.
Later, as I was on the board of the Virginia Organization of Composers and Lyricists, I developed their first site which offered the entry form for their then international Song Contest. Entries increased that year exponentialy.
As I found I was more fascinated with the skills and software that one used to develop sites, I pursued reading about the philosophy of web site design, most notably Jakob Nielson. In essence for me: web sites excel at delivering information and the intent is to serve the user. One can go to a great looking site, but if you can't find the information you're looking for, you probably won't go back. However, there are plenty of sites that don't necessarily look great, but they answer all your questions.
I strive for balancing the primary effect of strong information architecture with a well defined identity.
If you are looking for a single shop web guy who can either develop, maintain or revise your site, I hope you'll consider me. Your needs may require more or they may be something that you might achieve on your own. Either way, I can help guide you.
