- Do you have patience to let things grow
- How long might you live in this house
- What is your budget
- Is there water available
- Are there deer that may eat the plants
- What is the soil like
- Is there sun or shade
- How much evergreen is needed
- Which plants are bullet proof
- What is the natural growth habit of any plant so it doesn’t need a lot of trimming
- What is the bloom length, color and time of the plant
- If it’s a perennial- how messy is it after it blooms – does it flop or stand up on its own.
